The picture above is a view from the top of mount Sanage. The long hike was a 17 mile walk from Yakusa station to the top of mount Sanage, around the mountain and back to Yakusa station. The hike was very long and it was about 5:00pm by the time we got back to Yakusa station though we started at 7:30am!!! The starting point for the long hike was Yakusa station near one of our campsites. First we walked on the roads that went around paddie fields that were surrounded my mountains. When we reached about a quarter of the way we were together with the scouts going on the short hike (about 9 miles). From there the road was surrounded by trees and we heard motorcycles. When we reached the trail there was a sign telling us that the road had broke due to a land slide. This is what it looked like: This is where the road would be Basically the whole part of the road fell in and maybe you can see the asphalt in between the ridges.
